CM inaugurates Agro Bihar 2013



PATNA: Addressing a meeting after inaugurating the four-day Agro Bihar 2013 fair at the Veterinary College ground here on Sunday, Chief minister Nitish Kumar, while hailing Bihar farmers, said they are doing very well and creating world records in production of food grains and vegetables.

“Our farmers are not only hardworking but also intelligent and they want to satisfy themselves if the chemical farming is better of genetic,” he said.

The CM said Noble laureate Jospeh Stiglitz visited Nalanda and met small farmers of Sarimchak village of the district. “Stiglitz was impressed with the mushroom production and involvement of women in this activity,” Nitish said, adding, “Sarimchak farmers are doing genetic farming and also chemical farming on a limited level to prove that genetic farming is a better option.”

The new agriculture roadmap, the CM said, will yield good results and bring a new revolution. The government is giving attention on market and storage facilities. The plan size of agriculture has been increased to Rs 2,200 crore and Rs 241 crore have been earmarked as subsidy on farming equipment.

Agriculture secretary Vivek Kumar Singh presented the CM memorabilia at the inaugural function. Agriculture minister Narendra Singh and agriculture production commissioner Alok Kumar Sinha were also present on the occasion.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized third edition of Agro Bihar at Veterinary College Ground, Patna, Bihar from 8-11 February 2013. Agro Bihar 2013 served as an ideal platform for the show casing modern agriculture machinery and equipments, interaction between farmers and farm machine manufacturers and also opened the door of opportunities for business.
